The Magic Warehouse has moved to a beautiful new location and to kick things off we are
hosting the Will Houstoun Lecture
SATURDAY MAY 10TH at 2:00
Will Houstoun is one of the real up and coming young talents from the U.K. He burst onto the Magic scene by taking third place in The International Magic Close-Up Competition, then went on to confirm his standing by becoming the youngest ever person to win first prize in the British Magic Championship, Blackpool, 2006. Since then he has represented the UK in FISM, attended the FFFF convention as well as performing and lecturing in Spain, Ireland, England, Italy and Sweden.
The lecture contains close up/parlour magic using cards, coins and even a trick using just your fingers! The material is all fully explained, along with some of the reasoning behind it, with the aim that everyone who attends the lecture will take something away from it. The routines that are taught include:
- Flipfly - Three coins jump from one hand to the other while in full view of the audience. This variation on three fly includes particularly clean displays and a very visual handling of the middle coin.
- Special K - The entire deck visually flips face up apart from the spectators selection that was inserted into the face down deck a few moments earlier.
- Bouncing Shadows - A handling of shadow coins that flows smoothly and removes the need for any adjustment of the coins from the moment the routine starts to the moment it ends.
- Fire coins - Three coins appear from a candle flame one by one then vanish back into it. This routine includes a motivation for the use of flash paper that can be used wherever a candle is being used to light the paper.
- Guesstimation - In this gambling routine the aces are located from a shuffled deck apparently through masterful estimation.
- Con-tract - This is not a routine, rather a beginning and ending to any gambling routine that generates interest at its start and a surprise twist at the end.
- Bakers Three Fly - Four coins jump visually from one hand to another in a variety of ways. This routine adds variety to the visual coins across plot and as a result has a totally different feel to three fly.
