At The Table/November 2014 reviewed by Jon Jensen
To start off this review I am going to say for the record that this is one of
the best values in magic.
There are now a couple of companies that provide online lectures. We
have gotten a couple of requests to review them, yes I read your emails. I
recently purchased At The Table Live/November 2014 and was pleasantly
surprised at both the quality of the content as well as the filming/editing.
On this dvd set you receive four lectures; Jesse Feinberg, Chris Korn,
Bizzaro, and Jeff Prace. All four performers are fairly well known in the
magic community, but none I would consider super stars. After watching all
four dvd`s, I can tell you this is by far one of the best values in magic.
The true value of a project like this is the number of ideas presented by
the different performers. My favorite tricks may not be the same as yours,
and I feel that is a good thing. But, there is definitely something for
everyone. Here are my favorite items from this project.
Jesse is an ultra creative guy. The two favorite items on his disc were
Spell-O-Change and M C Straw. Spell-O-Change is his version of the trick
where the spelling on the outside of the box changes. His version is
different from others on the market, and it is his little touches that makes
this a real fooler. M C Straw is also very good. I now perform an ungimmicked
version where the stripe on a straw changes from red to yellow.
This is great to perform for kids.
I watched Chris Korn`s lecture thinking there would be nothing for me as
I do little advanced sleight of hand. He hit a home run with the very first
trick on the dvd, fireball, which I consider to be the best trick on the entire
series. I don`t want to give away the plot because it gives away the trick,
but I guarantee it will get huge reactions for you.
Bizzaro is another extremely creative guy. On this dvd he teaches how
he manufactures his customized props. I found this portion of his lecture
very useful. His appearing Oreo Box you can customize for just about any
show you are doing. All of his ideas may not be fully thought out, but it will
jump start your creativity.
Jeff is young, hip, and organic. His tricks usually utilize real world props
and you can tell he performs them in the real world. His two stand out
tricks are Where Time Stands Still and No More Card Tricks. Both of these
tricks I will be performing at the bar and walk-around gigs.
As I stated at the beginning of this review, I feel this is one of the best
values for your money. You will find several tricks you will want to perform
for your friends or professional gigs.
