The performer asks an audience member to pass cardboard slips and pens to the audience. Everyone is told to write down a question Ihey want answered. For those who don't have a question in mind, it's suggested they write down some information that the performer couldn't know such as an address or telephone number. The mentalist NEVER TOUCHES THE SLIPS. The performer explains that he needs to warm up his telepathic talent by using the thoughts from a few selected people. The helper sellects four random slips. Four different people read their slips and concentrate on the various random thoughts. Without anything in hand, the menlalist correctly reveals what the first person is thinking. The next person has a word in mind. The mentalist writes letters in a notebook and reveals the word. He sets the notebook aside and names people in the room and answers their specific questions. Thought after thought and question after question is revealed and answered. Finally, he duplicates a drawing of which another person thinks. In fifteen minutes the psychic has addressed about a twenty questions, drawings and thoughts. But he's not finished yet. Before leaving the stage, the mind reader identifies one man by name. He then gives personal details about the stranger including the person's address, phone number and mother's maiden name! Then comes the difference...instead of the mentalist revealing the names of the selected cards, one of the spectators on stage finds themselves able to accurately divine the name of each of the chosen cards, with apparently no knowledge of how they are doing it. Not only that, but it can be stressed that this mind-reading spectator has never met you before, that nothing has been set up, that the performer isn't signaling to the spectator (touch, sound etc) and that at no point prior to naming each card does he know any of the selections. An experiment is conducted to find the relationship between chance and choice. A deck of cards is fairly shown. After briefly shuffling the deck, half is given to a spectator, who again shuffles them and then begins to deal them into a small pile. The spectator is instructed to stop dealing by chance whenever she likes. The magician shuffles his half and allows the spectator to make a free choice from the face up cards. This chosen card is placed face up onto the spectator's pile. Now this same procedure is repeated twice more for the sake of scientific consistency. When the piles are examined it is found that the card stopped at by chance in every case is the exact mate of the card selected by choice! Can be repeated for the same audience! Easy to do! The performer asks a spectator to secretly find his/her birth year on a parchment containing the Chinese Zodiac and to remember the animal associated with that year. From a small velvet pouch the performer removes a strange device comprised of an eight sided disk with the numbers 1-12 burned around it, a Chinese coin containing the Zodiac, and a replica Hand of Fu Hsi in the center! The spectator is asked to secretly find his/her animal on the coin and align it with any number on the disk. Using a chopstick the performer begins to randomly tap the disk when suddenly the spectator yells "STOP!"....and upon doing so the performer has landed on the exact animal secretly chosen earlier by the spectator!
