You start by showing nine small solid brass engraved lettered tiles that when assembled make the word STARTLING. You then offer to show something STARTLING with a deck of cards. A card is chosen by spectator and placed face down on the table in front of them. Attention is then drawn to the brass tiles and the word STARTLING. One by one a single letter is removed, and each time another word is formed. This continues until just the letter 'I' remains. The discarded letters are then rearranged and amazingly they spell the name of the chosen card. Comes complete with nicely made props & carry pouch and is 100% self working. |

Another amazing idea by Juan Pablo. Juan Pablo the creative mind behind Roped, Tie Pin Juan, Bottle Production and many other original effects has done it again. The guy simply can't stop developing outstanding magic! A card is randomly selected and signed by a spectator. The magician asks that the card box be signed as well and returns the deck with the signed card to the box. Then the magician quickly covers the deck with a silk, pulls it back to reveal that the box is gone, leaving only the cards behind. Upon closer inspection the signed card has vanished too! The magician produces a card box from his jacket and it has the spectator's signature. Opening the box, a single card is found inside which happens to be the signed card! A spectator chooses a card which is then lost in the deck. The magician places the deck aside and calls attention to a glass ashtray that has been in full view the entire time. Picking up this ashtray, the performer blows his breath onto it. The name of the chosen card magically appears in the condensation on the side of the ashtray! The effect can then be repeated with the same ashtray and with a different card showing. Ideal for restaurant work. Use the ashtray in your close up routine both before and after doing the effect. |
Any playing card is selected and signed, returned to the deck and the cards are shuffled, cut and placed face down on the table. The performer tells the spectator that their signed card is now on the bottom of the shuffled deck of cards. The deck is turned face up to reveal the bottom card is the Joker. At this time the performer explains that Jokers are wild and it represents their signed selection. After a bit of "Joking around" the performer then picks up the card box and taps the deck. Instantly and visually the Joker changes into the signed selection. He then opens the card box to reveal the magical wild card has ended up inside the closed box. WOW! JOKERS ARE INDEED WILD!

The Magician has a spectator help him shuffle the deck, and make sure that thte deck is well shuffled. Then the magician cuts the deck into four stacks, and infront of the four stacks are four cards laying on the table face down with a question mark face up. From this the magician predicts that he will make each stack mysteriously have the top card match what the face down suit is...then after that he takes it a step further and make the entire stack that suit, leaving the spectators wondering!! You claim that you have a prediction. The 4 aces are removed from a RED deck and placed off to one side. The spectator is asked to THINK of ANY card, NOT the SUIT just the VALUE. Lets assume they are thinking of a 4. Next they are asked to mix the four aces, these are laid out in a row. Each ace represents a suit, they select any one of the four aces. NO FORCE. They pick just one ace and that card is used. Lets say they pick hearts. In a fair manner they 've selected the 4 of hearts. The SAME deck is spread across the table, face up in the deck there is one card and one card only. It is the 4 OF HEARTS! Mathematical principles have always existed, waiting to be discovered. For example, if you take any two digit number and subtract the sum of the two digits, e.g. 41-5 or 76-13, you will get an answer divisible by nine. This principle has been used many times in several tricks. Sometimes it has even produced something magical. One of Bill's favorites appears on the internet under the title "The Flash Mindreader," the creation of Wayne Hoffman, magician, mind reader and software designer. Hoffman's creation inspired Randy Malcolm, jet-setting magician. He called Bill and described an effect similar to the Flash Mind reader that placed apparently random playing cards on a numerical list. The card at their number would than be revealed in a sealed envelope. Sealed and revealed. That has a nice ring to it. His effect evolved over the course of a couple of weeks, incorporating a pair of dice and some wonderful nuances. Bill came into the picture when he asked Bill to lay out the list for him. In working on Randy's list, Bill came up with a variation using words. This took several jumps, and in my effort to get as far away from the mathematics and then the words, Bill came up with the following. The results play very big. |
Rider is one of the funniest gags for close-up card magic! Simply place Rider on the table, with your arm extended towards the spectator in front of you. Apply a gentle pressure down with your hand or fingers and move Rider a couple of inches forward. When you release the pressure, Rider will skitter across the table, towards you. Another idea is to have a regular deck and case on your lap. Remove Rider from your pocket and place it on the table, asking to the spectator to remove the cards from the case and shuffle them. When the spectator reaches with his hand towards Rider, you release it, causing Rider to fall into your lap. At this point you can make a switch and begin using the normal deck. Now you can begin your card routine. |
