Escape Artists; Magicians... From the archives of Blaine Harris, we present the Asylum Wrist Restraint (Yes. It's the same Blaine Harris some of you may remember from Premier 75 Magic Studio back in 1975). The Asylum Wrist Restraint is completely examinable and can be used as a feature escape or as part of a larger effect (Sub Trunk, Torture Board, Spirit Cabinet, Packing Crate, etc.). Based on a very old principle, this new version has some improvements that make it easier and more fool-proof than its predecessors. This restraint is 100% hand-made by Blaine and is designed for years of tough service. The leather is thick top-quality American Latigo Cowhide. The performer's wrists are bound as tightly as possible by an audience member yet release is instantaneous and completely under the control of the performer. The wrist restraint has a new added feature in a buckle that can receive a padlock making it look really impossible! The lock can even be sealed for extra effect. The restraint is ungimmicked and no extra keys or special hidden equipment necessary. It may even be placed on an audience member proving escape impossible. What you receive:

MYSTIFYING! A volunteer is shown the inside of a familiar looking #3 Master Lock padlock and asked if they can see the locking mechanism and the copper colored core. Of course they can. The lock is locked and handed to them. They are asked if they can see the pins in the lock. Of course they can. You ask them to use the key to open the lock. The lock opens normally. Ask them to lock it. They do so. Ask them to open the lock without the key. They cannot. This lock is totally examinable and appears normal in every way. No matter how familiar they are with gimmicked locks they will not be able to open this lock! (and neither will you until you learn the secret!) Tip it, tap it, pull on it, rap it, put something in the keyway and try to turn it- NOTHING WORKS! Not even the "Mighells Method" will open this lock! You remind the audience of an account long ago when a tribe of people marched around a walled city for several days and then, with a shout, brought down the walls. You explain that rather than shouting, you, as a mentalist, will use your mind to open the lock! You take the lock between your forefinger and thumb. You squeeze. Houdini Mailbag Replica from Radner's Auction 2004 (This is not the typical bar and bag version of the escape. This is the historically correct replica of Houdinis actual mailbag! ) Background: In 2004 the famous Radner Collection of Houdini paraphenalia was sold at auction. When the pictures of authentic Houdini items were revealed, a picture of Houdini's last mailbag was among them. In the booklet, The Great Houdini Auction, published for potential buyers, it was described as, Canvas Bag- Canvas with leather trim and slots for ties (ties not included). Bag also has grommets with pencil markings. Used during performances, the 5 foot 4 inch Houdini easily escaped from this full length canvas bag. This discovery flies in the face of the bar and bag version that is wrongly proclaimed to be Houdinis mailbag escape. In fact, Houdini never used a bar in his mailbag escapes nor did he have a mailbag with grommets along the top. The grommets in the authentic Houdini mailbag appeared as a design directly over the location of his mouth. This permitted greater ease in breathing from within the mailbag under hot stage lights. Leave it to Houdini to put function into what appears to be decoration! This information is just one example of the discoveries made by the seller as he researched the facts around Houdinis mailbags. Four, yes FOUR mailbags have been identified! This is the last and final mailbag used by Houdini. The results of the sellers research have been published in a booklet entitled, Houdinis Mailbags. Items: A copy of the book comes with the mailbag. It not only includes information on the four mailbags of Houdini but also detailed information on the famed patent Rotary Mail Lock that was on the original mailbag challenge! Ever since Houdini made the StraitJacket escape famous, it has been a success where ever performed. Made of soft cotton canvas with leather-like trim and 100% leather belting which gives it an air of authenticity and makes it appear the formidable challenge that it is. A well kept secret of Houdini's is that he used a cavity lock to aid in his escapes. This lock is the modern day version of a cavity lock. It comes with a modified micro key meant to open most of today's hand, leg and thumb cuffs. The lock is examinable and functions properly. Basic price includes one laminated padlock with a multi-purpose micro key (thumbcuffs are used as a wrench to turn the micro key) and a key to the lock itself is hidden within. |
