You show two small wooden slates ( 6 cm x 4,5 cm) and you give them to be examined. Meanwhile, another spectator selects a card from a deck.
The deck is then given to be shuffled by the assistant
Now the magician without any strange movement, place a small candle in the center of the table, and asks a spectator to the lit a match.
Then, he put one slate over the other, tie them with a ribbon and put a piece of chalk over them. The slates are placed beside the lit candle
The spectator who shuffled the deck, place it face down on the table and cut it in half. The magician spread the two halves besides the candle.
The spectator mentions his card close to the candle flame, like a ritual, and then the magician unknot the ribbon and shows that the name of the card is now written in chalk on a slate.
